Octa-core CPU boosts speeds up to 2.05GHz using a mix of the latest Arm Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 in combination with a large L3 cache

MediaTek officially announced its new gaming-centric SoCs - the Helio G90 and G90T. The new platforms utilize an octa-core combination of two ARM Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55s alongside the Mali-G76 GPU. Both the G90 and G90T are built on TSMC’s 12 nm FinFET process and can be clocked up to 2.05GHz. In addition, the new SoCs support up to 10GB LPDDR4X RAM.. 

A major highlight of the new chipsets is the HyperEngine game technology which brings support for an array of functions that should improve the overall gameplay experience. Chief among them is a networking engine which can automatically combine WiFi and LTE connectivity to boost signal strength.

MediaTek has not just built a powerful chip, but a complete platform of hardware and software enhancements that excels at smartphone gaming.

The upgraded octa-core CPU uses the latest Arm Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 processors in combination with a large L3 cache, which pushes the G90 series multi-threaded performance up to 9%1 beyond direct competitors. The latest Arm G76 3EEMC4 GPU can play Fortnight and PUBG incredibly smoothly, blazing through Manhattan benchmark up to 26%1 faster versus direct competitors.

 

Beyond gaming, the G90 series is the first to enable up to 64MP1 4-cell sensor cameras that can capture incredibly detailed photos or using quad-pixel technology provides the best low-light performance ever. Multi-camera framework allows brands to integrate a variety of lens and sensor options for vast product differentiation potential. It’s incredibly fast AI processor (APU), which combined with its premium CPU and GPU, powers up to 1TMACs1 AI performance; ideal for AI-camera applications, OS enhancements, exciting apps and much more. 

Fully integrated into its design for power and costoptimization, the G90 series can listen for multiple wakeup words1 that trigger virtual assistants such as Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa or other localized services.

Connectivity includes a Cat-12 4G LTE WorldMode modem with 3x CA and 4x4 MIMO and 256QAM, plus DSDS (dual SIM) for essential dual 4G VoLTE and 4G data that provides the best user experience. Advanced cellular features such as IMS (VoLTE\ViLTE\VoWi-Fi), is now supported by over 175 cellular operators worldwide, and other standards include global eMBMS, HPUE and Band 71 support in North America

Another headline is the dual WiFi connectivity support allowing a single device to connect simultaneously to two routers for a more reliable connection and decreased latency. HDR10 support and display touch acceleration are also present to add to the fluid in-game experience.

MediaTek is clearly aiming to gain traction in the growing gaming smartphone industry with more affordable offerings compared to rivals Qualcomm. The company hinted that the new G90 series SoC will make its debut on a Xiaomi device in India soon.

HOM TOM HT70 USER REVIEW

Regret buying Hom Tom phones. First if they released the phone on Nougat it will be stuck on Nougat with no hope of upgrade to Oreo or anything else upgrade or downgrade. Second the non removable batteries immediately after buying you are advised to buy a spare replacement battery immediately. Dont belief the reported battery life you should discount at least 40% from their official figures. The battery capacity reported is suspect to be st best 80% of its capacity.
Thirdly the camera sucks big time unless under ideal perfect condition which is in broad daylight. Under low light condition even in your house during day time your pictures will be grainy/ noisy. I can say with 100% confidence that my very old Lenovo S939 8Mega Pixel single lens camera beats Hom Tom multi mega pixel camera hands down in any condition. It probably uses cheap China CMOS camera that goes into toy cameras The second camera lens is for bokeh only but actually 99.99% of the time is non functional or is only a fake. I tried installing 3rd party cameras for nearly 2 weeks and found the best substitute camera app is only the MX Camera. It improves the picture quality but still dont see any benefit of the second or 3rd or 4th camera unless it combines all camera pixels into one composite pictures ( just imagine 30Mp + 16Mp+16Mp+12Mp! But you will never get that in a budget phone probably on high end Apples, Samsung etc)
I am not convinced about the 10,000mAh battery life as claimed I normally use the phone as my alternate "PC" writing blogs. That means I am nearly 9-10hours on the device intersperse with the PC by I normally start using at 7am and end at around midnite on the gadget. I normally would be at 20% at the end of the day. Even if on standby just sitting idle no in/out going calls within an hour the battery would already be at 98%.It is either my particular units battery issue or as many reviewers say the actual capacity is about 8,000mAh. But even at 8k mAh it is considered massive and should last at least 24 hours and a few days on standby.I am already thinking of buying a replacement battery.
Rooting is not a problem,I have done a complete instructions to rot and install TWRP.
My advise is to avoid Hom Tom, Leago, and other China budget brand which try to con you with their impressive on paper performance data! I bought HT70 because it is based on MTK SoC and I totally avoid anything else especially Qualcomm, Huawei Kirin, or Exynos. That is my opinion.
